Our story

Nine years of sharing the rich flavours, traditions, and hospitality of Indian fine dining with our community.

Since 2017

Taste of India was founded in 2017 on a mission to bring authentic and upscale Indian cuisine to the heart of Charlottetown and Atlantic Canada. From day one, the vision was to create a space where Indian cuisine was not just served, but understood: where spice had nuance, curries had depth, and every meal carried a little bit of home.

With a menu shaped by recipes both traditional and modern, the restaurant quickly became known for its bold flavours, innovative cuisine, and generous hospitality. Every dish tells a story from time-honoured family recipes, carefully crafted to bring people together.

The flagship of a growing family

The passion behind Taste of India carried across the bridge: the first Namaste Bistro opened in Miramichi, New Brunswick in 2020, and the family now spans locations across New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Taste of India remains the flagship, a community staple proud of its roots, grateful for its guests, and committed to cooking Indian food the way it was meant to be.

How we cook

We treat Indian cuisine as a foundation, drawing on time-honoured methods like tandoori style cooking and slowly emulsified curries, while applying modern culinary precision to composition and finish. Our kitchen is led by sharp flavours, dynamic plating, and a belief that complexity should always feel effortless on the palate.

We push boundaries without overpowering the roots, building plates that feel intentional, progressive, and undeniably Indian at heart.
